Every now and then you may have to block specific third parties from accessing your Internet sites. There are a number of automatic bots that crawl the Internet, for example, and generate fake visits and traffic. There are spammers who leave links to questionable Internet sites as comments to blog articles. This kind of things can considerably undermine your work, as nobody likes to visit a website with many fake comments, furthermore the increased traffic from both spammers and bots can create high load on the web server where your site is hosted, which may result in your site not working properly. One of the best solutions in this case is to block the IP addresses which create the fake traffic, as a way to ensure that the visits to your site are authentic.
IP Blocking in Shared Web Hosting
If you have a shared web hosting account with our company and you wish to block one or a few IP addresses, you can use the IP Blocking tool, that's included in our in-house built Hepsia CP. Through a really simple interface, you can stop any IP from accessing your content even if you have not had a web hosting account before. All it takes to complete that is to log inside to your Control Panel, to go to the IP Blocking section, to select a specific domain or subdomain from a drop-down menu and then to input the IP address. You won't need to do anything complex if you want to block a whole network - you will just have to omit the last octet, so entering 1.1.1. with a blank space after the last dot shall block the whole range from 1.1.1.1 to 1.1.1.255. All blocked IPs will be listed in the very same section, so you shall be able to remove any one of them from the blacklist with just a click.
IP Blocking in Semi-dedicated Hosting
Our semi-dedicated server accounts feature a really simple-to-use IP blocking tool, that'll permit you to prohibit individual IPs or even entire networks from accessing your sites with simplya couple of clicks and you won't have any issues to do that even if this is your first website hosting account. Once you navigate to the IP Blocking section of the Hepsia CP, you'll just have to choose the domain or subdomain in question from a drop-down list, then type the IP address inside a box that you will see there and you will be good to go. To prohibit the access for a whole network, you will need to leave one or more octets blank. For example, if you input 123.123. and do not type anything in the third and fourth positions, our server will deny requests from all IP addresses between 123.123.1.1 and 123.123.255.255.
