Set up in 2001, the .NAME universal extension is the single TLD planned for personal web pages only. These domain names can include personal or fictional names, aliases and/or other titles people are known by. At first, solely 3rd-level registrations were allowed, so if you planned to obtain john.doe.name, you were supposed to do that under .doe.name. In 2004, however, the registration process was liberalized and second-level registrations were also allowed. Already registered third-level names remained working.

You will have the opportunity to change the WHOIS contact details, to park your domain, to modify Custom DNS records, etc. You can also transfer an existing domain to our company if you have its EPP transfer authorization key from the present registrar firm and we will renew it as soon as the transfer has been completed. There are no specific restrictions on who can secure a dot NAME domain name, but in order to preserve the objective behind its creation alive, the .NAME Registry organization may verify who the owner is and if there is no connection between the owner and the actual domain name, the registration might be challenged.
